Brief Description:  New data plate, xponder check

I’ve been working on getting all paperwork in order for an upcoming inspection. I received a new data plate and had it engraved. The data plate has to match “EXACTLY” to the registration certificate—and this one does. I drilled out the pop rivets securing the old data plate and removed it. I gave the new plate a shot of primer on the back side and pop riveted in place. About an hour later Brian showed up for the transponder/static system check. He hooked up his equipment to static ports, pitot tube etc and did his thing. He found no problems in the system—no leaks in the static system and the transponder reports altitude correctly. The test went from -1000 feet to 20000 feet with stops at various altitudes in between. He was satisfied with the tests and signed a form indicating a successful test. One step closer! I called my DAR hoping to get an inspection scheduled next week, but haven’t yet heard from him.-
