Brief Description:  Glare shield dress up, powered up the Skyview

I bought some small vacuum hose to dress up the joint between the glare shield and windscreen. I laid down a thin coat of black silicone and installed the rubber hose. Next, I climbed into the tailcone to run a tap thru the 2 nutplates that secure the rear baggage bulkhead. Well, got one nutplate done and about halfway thru the second when the tap broke off inside the nutplate. Yikes, what now? Fortunately, there was about ¼” of the tap sticking thru the back that I was able to grab with some needle nose vice grips and screw it on thru. Disaster averted, whew! I installed the Dynon Skyview and the Garmin GTN650. I spent a good bit of time getting the Skyview updated to the latest software. Next, I had hoped to acquire a satellite signal in order to verify that a signal was being transmitted to the ELT. However, the signal wouldn’t penetrate through the roof in the shop, so tomorrow I’ll move the fuse outside and try again.
