I deburred and edge finished all of the oil cooler and #4 baffle pieces. Then, I dimpled many of the holes, and machine counter sunk many others. I also added a doubler to the rear baffle where it is bolted with a spacer to the engine—looked like a good place to end up with a crack in the future. Scuffed up the parts, cleaned with soapy water, wiped down with MEK and shot everything with primer. I had not intended to primer the baffle parts, but I had scratched up several areas and after sanding down, the alclad was removed—hence, the election to primer. After the primer dried, the riveting began. I started with the doubler on the rear baffle, the added the 1” angle to the CB-705B oil cooler brace—these all done with the squeezer. Then I switched to the gun and drove the rivets that connect the CB-706A rear baffle to the CB-705 baffle and the oil cooler brace. Then, back to the squeezer to rivet the 1” angle to the CB-705 baffle. At this point the 2 aft baffle parts and the oil cooler brace a riveted together and have become quite rigid. Tomorrow I’ll continue with the FF-709 doubler, various other angles, some nutplates and the CB-1004A side baffle.
