Brief Description:  Alternate air cable

Today I received notice from the FAA that my requested N number has been reserved—N23SR. Now, I’ll have to get flying within the next 12 months! Still working on the radio issues—more research needed. On the -8 firewall there is a hole near the left flange of the firewall. Some of Van’s documentation shows the battery cable going thru, but I used a different location for getting the cable thru the firewall. So, this hole looked like a good spot to pass thru the Bowden cable to operate the alternate air on the FAB. I match drilled the mounting holes and opened up the center hole to fit the cable. Match drilled the mounting holes, inserted a snap-in bushing in the hole followed by a smaller bushing inside the larger one. I gooped it up real well with Firebarrier 2000, installed the stainless cover followed by the screws. The firebarrier is almost as bad as pro-seal. The stuff seems to get everywhere—clean up was a chore.
