Brief Description:  Termination of mic/phone wires

Well, 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I started prepping the pilot mic wire cable for termination. I made a “poor mans” solder sleeve to connect the shielding on the cable to a ground wire. Next I stripped the 3 leads and was about to crimp D-Sub pins on. The Garmin uses a Hi Density pin-which I discovered are slightly smaller than a standard D-Sub pin. The pin felt rather loose in the crimper. After a bit of research, I found it takes a different crimper. Ugg! Fortunately, Stein carries a barrel to convert the crimper for Hi Density pins. I’ll have to get one on order next week—progress is slowed while waiting.
