Brief Description:  Tank Assy - Fixing a dent "Outie" 1

When I removed the first tank from the cradle after riveting the internal 5 ribs I discovered a dent. Or more accurately an "outie". I remember now, I did drop my bucking bar, but didn't think anything about it, at the time. Well, it made a dent from the inside. I read Van's Airforce and there are several opinions about turning an "outie" into an "inny" or just a dent, and then filling it later at paint time. Some "experts" say, hit it with a hammer, or with your rivet gun. Some say, but a molly or bucking bar behind it, but the "expert" that I believe said, "put a bag a lead shot behind it, warm it up with your heat gun, and tap it gently, repeatedly with a body hammer and the metal will flatten back out or at least become a slight inny. The use of the lead is to give it some rebound movement so you don't crack the aluminum. Continued on next page.
