I decided to close in the open end, although this is not called for in the drawings. So I bought a piece of foam from Home Depot Aircraft Supply Store. I discovered the band saw does a nice job of cutting this without making to much mess with little flakes. Also you can sand this on the belt sander and it also makes it smooth. Interesting. I split the thickness of the one shown below, to only about 3/4 thick.
