I decided to fill the gap between the tip and elevator because I saw some RVs at Oshkosh with this done and I like the uniform look. However, now that I've done it, I would not do it again. Just leave them alone.
First if filled the line gap with a mixture of expoxy and flux.
Then I laid cloth over the gap with the idea that the cloth will keep it from ever cracking open from vibration.
