Brief Description:  Fixing F-770

The fact that the F-770 side skin did not fit has been bothering me all week. Even though I had found what I thought was the solution on Vansairforce, I wasn't going to be happy until I had fixed it. Tomorrow is my twin grandsons birthday, so there will be no hangar work this weekend. We are going to San Diego.

After dinner I convinced my wife to go to the hangar to make sure everything was still sitting on the supports properly. I also wanted to get some support underneath the 705 bulkhead. I did not want the fuselage settling into some weird angle waiting for me to get back and fix it. Anyway, she agreed to help. We moved some support under F-705 which raised it about one inch. I was underneath the aircraft, so I could not tell if that made any change to the F-770 skin. When I got out I found the skin almost perfectly aligned. Just a little pressure and I had it clecoed in place. It gets better.

The F-704 bulkhead was now in its proper place on the longeron AND the longeron now seems a little long. I will know for sure when I get to mounting the firewall. Several steps to go before that, but it's nice to know it came together as designed. As you can see in the third image the longeron is just a degree or two high. It looks low, but the plane is upside down. I can fix that in a few minutes.
