Brief Description:  Calibrating fuel level, looking for leaks, part 2

When we tried to pump fuel from the right fuel tank through the boost pump, we got ZERO fuel. We removed and checked the lines from the fuel tank selector valve, to each line, out the side wall and to the fuel tank fitting. We could not get any fuel to flow, and couldn't even blow air through the system. Finally, with all lines removed from the fuel tank fitting, I connected a length of fuel line to that fuel fitting and tried to blow air into the tank and "make bubbles"...nothing. I did this again, but this time I used my air hose with the fuel tank cap off. The blockage popped and we clearly got air into the tank.

Problem: Whatever was blocking the line was still loose inside the fuel tank. I had no other choice but to remove the fuel tank access plate, which of course will ruin the cork gasket. However, I just can't risk having that contaminant block my fuel lines while I'm airborne.

I unscrewed all 12 screws and carefully broke the seal on the Proseal, removing the cover. The fuel pickup tube is part of the access cover assembly: Sure enough, there was black proseal covering part of the fuel pickup tube's holes. I removed the contaminant from the tube, and blasted the tube out with compressed air until I could see no signs of contaminant. Air blows easily through the tube,

I crafted a new cork gasked out of gasked material I bought for just this contingency. I reinstalled the access cover to the tank, and CAREFULLY applied new Proseal on the outside edges and to each mounting screw. I'll give this a couple of days to cure before I put fuel back in the tank to check the lines.
