Brief Description:  Uncrating the engine

Time to finally hang the engine! This will allow me to start connecting tons of items in the cockpit area, getting me closer to that final close-up.

First, to get this engine out of the box. I bought this engine factory new as part of the 2012 Sun 'n Fun engine sale, which included free long-term storage packaging. The engine was well preserved in a thick sealed plastic bag with dessicant and humidity protectors. It rested in the bottom of the box surrounded by a 2nd layer of plastic bag: Around that bag, Lycoming poured thick styrofoam which surrounded the engine with great protection. I had to cut that back far enough to allow me to lift the engine out with a shop crane.

Many thanks to Marc and to Glen at Marcair Aviation (52F) for loaning me the crane.
