Brief Description:  Mounting and aligning the ailerons

Mounted and torqued down the aileron bolts/nuts. Image 1 shows the 1"/3" plank used to ensure the aileron is aligned when the bellcrank is set to the null/centered position. Two factory-drilled machine holes on the wing rib serve as the zero chord reference line, to which I screwed the plank driving the two screws through a black line centered on the plank. With that in place, the aileron should line up with the back line. The left aileron was centered perfectly, and the right aileron took minor adjustments to the push-rods.

Image 2 shows my approach to an aileron stop. The Vans plans call for fabrication of a small piece of aluminum angle iron with no real useful direction on where to mount it. I followed a time-proven practice across the Van's builders world: I drilled out a section of nylon rod and centered it on the inboard aileron mount bolt. Works perfectly.
