Brief Description: F-705 Gussets & Tail Wheel Mount
Trimmed and installed the F-705 gussets in the cabin. Removed the extra angle (used only for tip up version) and rivetted the gussets. There were 2 rivet holes (which were somewhat superfluous because they were for the tip up roll bar) that I could absolutely not get to which a bucking bar. I ended up leaving one empty and the other I put in a pulled rivet. I painted and installed the tail wheel spring mount. I installed the mount and rivetted the aft bulkhead. I had difficulty getting a bucking bar under the mount (does anyone??) so I installed three pulled rivets there. The rest I bucked or squeezed. I had one problem with the upper right inside rivet where I could not get the bulkhead tab to lay flush; every time I tried to rivet it, it just bulged out. After three successive tries, I had ruined the tab and so I cut it off, installed a small gusset and redrilled (1/8") and rivetted the gusset on to the longeron and the bulkhead. It worked fine.
