Brief Description: Drilled out AN3 rivets used to assemble spar
This task removes the AN3 equivalent rivets, so that the modification described on dwg 6ZU1 can be achieved. It does not remove all such rivets in the main spar; only those affected by the modification.
1. Center punch heads of rivets to be removed. 2. Drill rivets to be removed with #20 bit, depth roughly equal to the shop or machine head. 3. Further open the head with 3/16" bit. 4. For those heads which did not fall off, remove them with chisel. 5. Punch the rivet body through with a 3/16" rivet removal tool (local manfacture).
Note: Developing the right technique and tool makes all the difference. On the previous wing, this took 6 weeks.
