There has been an ongoing problem in the background, awaiting a solution. The mixture control arm would collide with the side of the oil tank. This would not allow full deflection of the mixture control. Supposedly, there is a carbutetor which does not have this problem, but it is not the one I have.
I finally decided to make a depression in the side of the oil tank, so the arm would have complete travel. The oilt tank has more than enough volume for the engine oil, so a moderate sized dent should have no impact on performance.
1) Make roughtmeasurements of the amount of depression required. 2) Iteratively made dents in tank until the mixture control arm had clearance and full travel. 3) Sanded area worked on oil tank. 4) Coatted area with rust contverter as a precaution. 5) Painted with Continental engine paint. 6) Bolted oil tank in place.
