I wasn't about to paint the wings until I was sure they fit. The changes to the wing spar structure implemented in the mandated Zenith modification made the tight fit even tighter. Josh and I tried about everything to get the wings to slide in place. We finally succeeded.
1. Placed wood spreaders in carry-though spar overnight, so they would be more receptive to the actual wing spar. 2. Removed spreaders from port carry through spar. 3. Positioned blocks under port wing to set it to the approximate position. 4. Slipped port spar end into carry-through. 5. Attached tool to outboard holes in wing spar, and forced spar in place with rivet gun, using flush rivet set. 6. Once it was clear the wing was going to fit, it was removed, and the process was repeated for the starboard wing.
Note: Most of the time spent was used developing a technique which would force the spar into place.
