Brief Description:  2. Started forward fit of cowling.

While letting the resin cure I did some work on the cowling. On the right forward corner the upper and lower cowls do not match, they are nearly perfect on the left, there must be some difference in the molds they use to make the upper and lower cowls.

I did two things to the cowl; I added two layers of cloth to the back of the lower cowl where the 3 nut plates will be installed. On the upper cowl I laid in some cloth to back up the forward part of the side right where the hinge ends. When sanding the upper cowl inside edge to get things to fit, I must have gotten a little aggressive because it is very thin here. It also sticks out above the lower cowl and needs to be sanded back, I need some material behind here before I sand things to get the halve to match.

I am working on how to cover the area that will go over the hinge pin area. I will copy an idea that I have seen others do, you cut out a shape for the cover, trace it onto the cowling and cut the cowling out so that the cover fits snugly. This will require building up an area behind so the cover fits into a recess. I have an idea of the cover I want but need to wait on a decal I want to incorporate into the cover.
