I am leaving on a trip to Florida on Monday and finding it hard to dive into much on the plane. I will be gluing the windscreen when I return so I worked some of those preparations. I sanded the edges of the windscreen smooth, worked up to 400 grit sandpaper. Then after fitting to the roll bar and making sure it lined up with the canopy I traced the footprint of the windscreen onto some poster board. I plan to attach the rug side of sheet Velcro to the dash and this will provide me with a template. I just received the material from McMaster Carr last week; it is 50” wide and sold by the foot.
I took some shots as I went along, I really like the fit to the aft canopy. I use some plastic cabinet door stops through some draw clecoes, when glued on I can adjust the tension of the draw cleco so the windscreen matches up with the aft canopy, at least that is my theory I will let you know how this works out.
Oh did I mention I will make Sun-N-Fun for two days, flying one day in with a friend in his RV-8, he is the reason I started this project over 4 years ago. Thank you Bulldog!
Sorry for the Blurr, I was looking to show a sense of speed!
