I carefully measured marked then drilled the outside canopy handle and installed it with an 8-32 set screw instead of the flat head screw called out for in the plans. I learned a few things while doing this. First don’t shape the handle until after you drill this hole. Try as I did, with the handle all clamped up, the hole was just off center. It holds just fine but not as exact as I would like. The real bugger was I drilled the handle so that it was stream lined with the canopy latched closed. Well I did all this without the spring (its missing) and once I installed and tested the outside handle I realized that the spring will make the handle rotate just a bit more. I thought I had the handle at its stop but it was off by just a bit. I think I can install some sort of stop on the inside handle to keep it from going to the stop formed by the brass bushing. I will also have to bend the latch just a bit more, when rotated it does not quite mate up with the pin on the roll bar. This will get me flying, I will order new handle parts sometime in the future and try this again!
How it was fit, handle rotates a few degrees more :(
