Brief Description: Part 1. Fill Voids on skirt edge
Well I am not really happy with the finish on the edge of the canopy to skirt line, even though I tried to smooth the glue as I went. You can sand Sika but how to sand an edge that is only 2/32” wide. I took a long .003 feeler gage and put that against the canopy and then with a nail Emory board sanded down the edge to a nice finish.
I have low spots to fill so I taped it all up again and ran a bead of Sika to fill the voids, once set up I will do the Emory board trick to smooth the glue line. I have a fairly even gap for the glue, it gets wide at the aft end but since that gets a beating with the closing of the canopy I like having more flex in this area. NOTE: keep the Sika bead near the edge and you will not end up with voids like I have, I rushed myself thinking I would run out of time since the Sika skins over in 10min but his is plenty of time to work the edge.
Example of void, aft end has larger gap, there are several that need filling.
