Brief Description:  Primed inside of skirt

Well my luck ran out, I have been sitting reserve with my airline in hopes that I will not get used and thereby get more time at home to build, and for the last 3 months this has worked out great but my first day on call this month I was called out on a 12 day trip. Now after getting over the jet lag of being in the Pacific region for 12 days I am back to work.

Today was my first attempt at using the DPLF epoxy primer and also the 3M paint prep cups. To say the least the spraying of the primer did not go great, it seemed to go on too thick. I managed to find the solution by adding more reducer and made some spray gun adjustment. I have left it to dry overnight. I had hoped to apply the K36 fill primer as well but the paint hose hit in an area that will need fixing. I plan to let it dry then sand to fix things and fill any pin holes I find. After that I will spray one more coat of epoxy primer then follow that with the K36 and call it good. I am not looking for an optically perfect finish since this is the inside of the skirt but I do want protection from the elements.

Spraying this stuff has certainly convinced me that I want nothing to do with painting my airplane; I will pay the money and leave that to professionals. As for the 3M paint prep cups, they are awesome, I only wished I had these disposable cups from day one.
