Brief Description:  Panel Design

Well today I decided to get a little help with the panel. I was getting quotes from the companies that will do the full panel and it was just too much money. I decided to get help with the design and cutting of the panel. I will buy the equipment and with wire harnesses but I will put it together and wire everything together. The full boat deal would have made the panel basically a plug in deal. I figure by doing the connections myself I will understand things better and how they interconnect.

I am working with John Stark of Stark Avionics, he has been very patient with all of my questions to this point, and has offered the best deal, and I have looked around. I figure the cutting the t panel with his machine will be well worth it, who knows how I could possibly mess that up!

We have to refine the panel but the fist hack is pictured below, these are my ideas, I am waiting to hear what John has to say. I was going to put the Van's glove box in but I don't like how it fits so that part of the panel will be open, I plan to put a clip there that will allow me to clip approach and navigation charts.

Design is for light IFR around the Dynon instruments and autopilot and Garmin for everything else. Why a Garmin 496 and the Garmin 430W you ask, well to get XM weather on the Gamin 430W it takes a GDL 69 which is like 4K. The 496 is already wired to get XM weather, so now I can have two maps. I will have redundant GPS and EFIS, and communication radios. I can lose both alternator and battery and I will have internal battery of Dynon and Garmin 496 to get down with, not that I would not land when the alternator died.

I plan to move the Audio panel above the G-496, also it will be a Garmin 240 panel not the one shown
