Brief Description:  Part 1: G496 Data Cable

I am getting closer to putting in the main instrument panel in so before I do that I want to get all the wires behind tidied up. I lace tied the left side to include adding some spiral wrap to the bundle that passes through the F804 bulkhead.

Next I worked on how to route the data cable that connects to the Garmin 496 GPS, the cable will allow me to run power from the aircraft to the GPS and allow data to move between other devices. The data will allow flight plan data to be shared from the Garmin 430W GPS to the 496. This flight plan data is constantly flowing from the 430W to the 496. Sometimes there will be occasion to look at different flight plan routes on the 496, so I installed a inhibit switch that will stop the flow of data from the 430W to the 496. This is a great tidbit I picked up from another builder.

The data also allows redundancy if for some reason the 430 fails I can still have the autopilot follow the 496. There is also now the capability to push frequency data from the 496 right into the IC210 radio.
