Brief Description:  Installed Alt Air Cable

Well after my swim this morning and then a bunch of unexpected things today I got down to the shop at 5pm then quit to make dinner at 7:30. My air vent came in from Stein so installed the vent then attached the hose clamps to hold the hose. It is much easier to do this work without the top skin; I did however orient the clamp screw knowing if and when I have to work on these it will be from inside the cockpit.

The last thing I did which I almost forgot was to make the holes to pass a cable through the forward baggage well. This cable will operate a door that will provide emergency alternate air to the engine if the main inlet gets clogged for some reason. I should have measured and done this when I had the baggage well wall out a few weeks ago but of course I didn’t. It took 45 minutes of carful measuring before came up with a route and put drill to metal. I managed to thread the cable just right. It is close to the battery tray so that I can get to the wall attaching screws (the ones that go into the floor). It was only now I realize for all my effort to make the electronic items attached to the wall easy to remove, I now know I will have to remove this entire cable to remove the wall, sure hope that does not have to be done very often.

I could have made a large plate to attach the cable knob to then attach this plate to the wall, then I could remove the plate with the knob attached and then the wall would move free from the cable knob. I will do this if I ever have a need to remove this wall. Tomorrow better be rivet on top skin day, I am tired of life getting in the way of my build.

The mess the cable had to get thru, you can see it run along the battery tray
