Brief Description:  Packed wheel bearings

I need to get the main wheels on the axel and set the bearing load so I can mark the axel for the cotter pin and then use the drill press for drilling the hole. I thought it best to have the bearings greased for this procedure. You have to tighten up the wheel until is will not move them back off so the wheel freely moves; this compresses the wheel bearings so they are seated properly. I figure having the proper amount of grease will allow me to set things up properly.

I used a bearing packer I picked up at Sears and man does this make the job easy. Like anything the first one is slow but then the learning curve takes off. All of the wheels are now ready to be mounted. The Grove wheels come lightly greased with Aeroshell 22 so I used the same grease when I packed them. Maybe the main gear goes on tomorrow.
