Brief Description:  Cut out lower HS rear spar for elevator

Well I made it home around 10 pm Christmas Day and enjoyed some down time on the 26th. Today I worked nearly all day. I started off finishing up the deburring of the HS by getting to the right side skin. After that I measured and notched the lower rear spar. This notch is required so the elevator control can contact the lower control stop that is attached to the fuselage.

I placed the spar on the fuselage as you can see in picture 1. I marked the notch then cut it out, the photo is shown after the cut was made. The second photo is a close up of the area; you can make out the thick aluminum under the spar. This is the elevator control stop, if this was not notched the elevator would not have full travel. The last photo shows the notch in the lower spar.
