I spent most of the day driving down to Van’s to pick up my finish kit. I had a chance to talk Joe about my electrical system issues with the rear mounted battery. He seemed to think I should put the battery forward, after talking with him I am inclined to think so. I thought about it for the 2 hour drive back home and have decided to install the battery just behind the firewall in the baggage area well on the floor.
I took me and hour to unload the crate I was working by myself and used some 2x6 for ramps and my hoist to assist me. I had to take it slow since I did not want to hurt he canopy. Funny the only shot I took of the finish kit was just after opening the crate. I inventoried everything; put the hardware in my storage bins and the small parts in a plastic container. I put the canopy and frame back in the crate along with the cowl and other fiberglass parts until needed. I then re-organized the shop so that it was usable once again. The crate actually makes for a nice storage shelf, I have the vertical stabilizer and the engine mount stored on top of the crate.
Crate just wheeled in on a dolly
This is just after opening, you can see the canopy is surrounded by all the other parts
