Brief Description:  Aileron rigging jig, aileron bushings

Well I have a few log entries to catch up on so here goes. I have had some dead time, I find I spend days thinking about how I want to attack an issue before I actually get started, not the most speedy of build techniques but it works for me.

I started off today setting up my ICOM 210 in the shop. The radio was initially set up in the man cave but I wanted it in the shop and I needed an external antenna. I bought two sections of 10‘conduit with some R-58 cable and a couple BNC connectors. Now I can listen to the local airport traffic while I work on the plane.

The next task was to make a jig that will hold the aileron in the neutral position for rigging. I had a drywall square lying around from some DIY work I did last year. It has a nice set of stripes down the middle, so I drilled two holes to match the tooling holes in the ribs which when lined up with the trailing edge of the aileron determines the neutral position. The tooling holes are exactly 26.5” apart. You can see the pictures of how it worked once attached to the wing.
