Brief Description:  Hardware organization

Hardware and Parts organization”

The hardware for my kit has remained in the paper bags it come in since the kit arrived. The only think I broke out into the storage containers you see where the rivets. Once the tails was done I realized I wanted a better way to find hardware.

When I unpacked the kit I sorted the large parts based on what they were (seats, floor panels, consoles, aileron etc.). I have the wire shelf for most of the parts; the large skins are one a rack under my large bench. The bulky items like the rear baggage deck are under another bench. The little stuff I initially was going to leave in the bags, I had them in plastic containers with the bag numbers marked on top. Well after doing the tail I realized that the plans don’t refer to bag numbers, it refers to the part or hardware number (AN4-11A for example). So I decided to organize all of the hardware out of each bag.

There are few enough of some items that I could combine them in one storage container. The container I used is a plastic tackle type box you can get from Home Depot. This is how mine are organized.

AN3 Bolt and Washers in one container
AN4/5 Bolts and washers
Nuts/Platenuts
Screws
Plastic Bushings and Clamps
Blue tube fittings
Bearings and Miscellaneous stuff

Most of the small parts that are not hardware are in shoe box size plastic containers, things like brake cylinders, flap actuator etc. I picked up the wire racks from Costco, I like them because it does not allow for moisture to get trapped, they are chrome but I do not let bare aluminum rest against it, I put down plastic or something to lift up the apart.
