Brief Description:  2. Installed Velcro on glare shield

I had bought some sheet Velcro from McMaster-Carr (great place or all kinds of stuff) so I decided to install that today. I had made a paper template before I glued on the windscreen so using that as a pattern I cut out the Velcro (this is the soft side or Velcro, the rug side).

It is tacked down with Scotch Super 77 spray adhesive. There is a hole in the center that the GPS antenna wire will run though; the hole is protected by a rubber grommet. This hole also lets heat from the instrument vent and will defrost the windscreen on cold mornings. To dress up the inside edge where the rough glue seam is located, I plan to tack down some small diameter fuel line. One of the pictures you can see the line laid in place compare that to the other without the line and you can see it really dresses up the look.

I installed edging onto the glare shield. I have already cut my head on the sharp edge of the aluminum skin so this was really needed. This edging has a metal strip, this is for crash worthiness, if my shoulder harness does to hold me and a bang the edge I would split open my head. If I just used some rubber hose without the metal interior it would just slice though that like butter.
