Brief Description:  E-bus feed diode and relay

I started the day by soldering wires to the ends of the diode for the E-bus alternate feed relay switch. The one picture I had from a website had the end of the diode crimped with the wire it attached to. When I tried this it did not hold well and failed the pull test. I decided soldering wires to the ends would allow me to secure the diode so there would be little to no vibration at the solder joints and actually made the installing easier, the thing had to get crimped to wires already in the plane to having a good wire tail helped. I made the color of the wires different on each end so I would know how to install the wire, but I also but a color band of heat shrink onto the diode to signify the banded end o the diode.

After installing the relay back on the wall of the baggage bay I removed the CB panel and right console base to get at the wire bundle that runs under here. I still needed to tie up this bundle and there was some wire organization that needed to occur. I tied the main bundle and then ran the ELT wire (flat phone line cable) on top of the bundle. The phone cable is very durable and I might need to change this out when and if I have to upgrade to the newer 406 ELTs. I used stick clips to run the cable up the bulkhead, I will need to cut the phone cable short or find a place to tie up the excess.

As you can see in the photo the CB panel is just swung out of the way, this was a good test since I will need to do this to get access to the wing bolts when I finally get this thing over to the hanger and fit the wings. After re-installing the CB panel I tested the E-bus alternate feed switch and relay and it work as advertised.

I used spiral wrap as extra anti chaff, overkill. ELT wire on top, the clips going up bulkhead.
