Brief Description:  Part 1: Pliced comm wires

Good long day of work in the shop today. I started by making a bracket to hold the 25 pin D-sub connector I will use to attach all of the DSAB network wires from the various Dynon components. This connector will sit in and angle bracket on top of the ground bus made from a 37 pin D-sub connector. I need to pick up longer screws but the picture show the assembly in place.

The next thing I tackled was to rivet the little side brace for the HS34, I still needed to rivet this to the D180 tray, had to use pop rivet due to the tight quarters. I also pinned and installed the data wire from the Garmin 496 GPS to the ICOM 210 radio.

My instrument panel harness was made by the John Stark; I picked up most of my instruments from him. Well the wires to the Pilot Comm jacks are a little too short. I picked up some 3 conductor shielded wire and spliced in the new piece. This was the first time for me doing this kind of work but it seems to have worked out well. I used some solder sleeves to hook a wire from the shields on either side of the splice, and then shrink wrapped the joint for support. I tested the shield and there is continuity all the way back to the intercom case which is a good thing, and not continuity to the internal wires.
