Brief Description:  Spliced NAV/STRB, LAND and TAXI wires

More electrical wiring, I am really getting fired up since I am actually connecting wires. I started today by cutting a notch in the right console behind the CB panel to accommodate some wires that run in the corner in front of the F804 bulkhead. I was thinking of getting wires hooked up to circuit breakers but then decided I better clean up some other work. I still needed to splice the wires for all of the lights (NAV, Strobe, Land and Taxi). I first made some labels to mark the wires, then after numerous iterations I came up with a scheme for the connections. What took so long is figuring a way to hook the wires that would leave a service loop, which allows for cutting and making new connections without running a whole new wire (future trouble shooting concerns).

I used a butt splice for the connections, kind of bulky but I did not want to solder in such a tight space, and I really don’t feel proficient yet at solder work. I liked how it turned out, I did a continuity test on one set of wires but still have to do the others. The butt slice is a fairly large diameter so the shrink tube does not fit the wire very tightly if nothing is done. I took some “Rescue Tape”, great stuff, and made a little wrap at the ends of the butt splice. This gives the tube something to shrink against. They say a gas tight connection is the best; I think I have that and the whole thing is sealed off from the environment, but time will tell.
