I found a great bargain on eBay - a brand new Grand Rapids Technologies Inc. Engine Information System. GRT has one of the best reputaion's for supporting the experimental aircraft community. Last week while browsing eBay I decide to search "efis" and there it was. Brand new a purchased by an RV-10 builder who had discontinued their project. It had never been installed and included all options (airdata and fuel flow).I won it for half of what it would cost to buy new, and the seller shipped it very quickly (it probably helped that I payed quickly as well!) I called GRT and spoke to Sandy and asked about the software version and recalibrating the unit to work with the Chelton (more on that choice later!). She said the softare was a liitle out of date, but if I shipped it back they would update it, recalibrate for use with the Chelton, and test it for me - all for around $100.I was on the fence about which engine monitor to choose, but when this opportunity popped up I quickly made my decison. Going this route will only cost me about $1200.00 complete!
