Since I completed the rudder pedal installation, and knowing the engine is on it's way I decided to spend a little time on the instrument panel. I grabbed some of the Garmin radio installation information and made sure the opening I had planned would work. I measured it out and used a cutoff wheel to create an opening in the forward panel bulkhead.Using aluminum angle I fabricated a four-sided stiffener per the plans. This should allow plenty of room for radios and still maintain the strenght of the panel.
