The weld around the hole of the replacement mount didn't interfere with a spacer being placed on top; the misaligned original one had welding proud of the plate. So the spacer was made to cover the whole face.
All parts of the Tail Spring Attachment were stripped and re powder coated. Both poor coating and signs of rust were found under the old coating. In their original condition corrosion would have set in fter a few flights and a bit of mud.
