Brief Description:  Engine diagnostics

Well, I found the Subaru service manual that came with the engine. I then diagnosed the engine and harness as per the manual. The coil checked out, and the plug wires were ok. I then checked the harness, that indicated shorts at various places. The ECM was not functional. It appears that the messed up wiring loom that came with the engine, shorted out and burnt out the ECM with it. Tomorrow I will be ordering a SDS wiring system out of Calgary. Simple, proven, aircraft designed, NO limp home mode (2 cylinder) operation and only $1500 U.S. dollars. My plane and life are worth it. The Eggenfellner wire loom was an accident waiting to happen. Anyone with this loom should chuck it out now.
