The cause and solution to yesterday's rivet problem came to me late last night: I was not securing the elevator to the workbench, so it was floating free between the rivet set and the bucking bar. The rivet was getting mashed at whatever position. After clamping the elevator to the workbench it was just a very few minutes to properly drive the two rivets. Now both elevator halves have their counterweights and nutplate for more weights if needed.
