Brief Description:  Weight And Balance.

Late last week BDH gave me a hand to do the initial Weight and Balance. ( sorry, forgot to take any photos, tomorrow I will get some photos of the weighing ).
As we expected the empty weight C of G is a long way forward.
VH-PGQ does not have a parachute, it has an external alternator, toe brakes, an extra MFD, and other items, which all contribute to moving C of G forward.
C of G was always going to be an isssue, so I had been supplied with three weights, which fit on the empennage, under the vertical stabiliser.
Knowing C of G was going to be an issue, thankfully I had drilled the four securing holes during the build of the empennage years ago,
KSC gave me a hand to install the three weights today and BDH and I will do another weighing tomorrow.
Without the weights installed and full fuel ( flying by myself ), I would have to carry 17 Kgs ( 37.5 Lbs ) of ballast in the luggage locker to be on the forward C of G limit.
Initial calculations ( to be comfirmed tomorrow), I will only need to carry 4 Kgs of ballast with the weights installed to be with in the operational C of G.
The weights are 1.35 Kgs each, so I have install 4.05 kgs with a very long arm moving C of G Aft.
The weights are secured by four AN3 bolts which I installed with the bolts facing upwards so I can see the witness marks on the nuts during routine instections.
