Brief Description:  Engine grief

This used engine continues to give me grief! My friend Rick Gray sent me a tool to install the rear plug in the crankshaft to convert the engine to C/S and the plug and the tool are too big. Seems the angle valve engine is a thicker crank so the ID is smaller. Not sure if I can convert it now as it doesn't have the pipe plug set up (normal angle valve would have a 1/8" pipe plug that you would install (or remove if you are going fixed pitch) and I see nothing inside my crank except for a small lipe machined into the ID.....I may be screw'd. Lycoming says if the little plug gets damaged send the crank back to them. Well mine's not damaged but the whole assembly is missing. Hopefully I'm wrong and I have the question posed to several folks who should know.

Anybody got a previously loved Sesenich?
No time logged today, this was all research.

UPDATE: I spoke to Dennis, Tech Rep at Lycoming, and he said that even though the plug (with pipe plug) is missing it can be installed. He said they require folks to send the engine in so they can use a specialized tool to install it, but I believe I can fabricate (or have fabricated) a tool like what is used on the parallel valve engines. This is all good news cause I was worried that the only way to install it was from behind which would require a tear down. I ordered the parts from airsuppliers.com from the part numbers Dennis supplied. Now I wait till the parts show and then make a tool to install them. Back to fiberglass....
