-I finished cutting out the center of the spinner backing plate per the plans. -I then sanded the edges nice and smooth with emery cloth -Riveted the backing plate and doubler together -Then I deburred and primed the front spinner bulkhead -Then I mounted the backing plate to the prop and torqued to specs per the plans -Here's were I ran into trouble:
I read the prop manual and it showed a diagram of the 'K' hub, which I have (HC-C2YK-1BF) and comparing it to my bolt pattern I have only one counterbored hole in the hub like an 'R' hub - now I'm confused. Also, my bushings in my crank flange are too long so I have to press those out and order new ones (not particularly cheap - $100ea from Lycoming). I'm going to talk to Hartzell on Monday to see why my 'K' hub looks like an 'R' hub. Once that is straightened out I can order my bushings.
Riveting the spinner backplate
Here's the prop-too bad I didn't get to put it on. Oh well I have plenty of other things to do
My hub is stamped with a K but it sure looks like an R hub to me.
