Worked on the emp, horizontal stab (HS), elevator and rudder fairings today. I have the rudder bottom ready to prep for paint as well as the HS, elevator and rudder tips. -Painted the emp fairing - 3 coats. I'm calling it done. -Sanded all the other parts to a general smoothness -Riveted the rudder top on. I installed a metal backing so the rivets wouldn't pull through. -Installed nutplates on the rudder bottom -Installed the aft position light in the rudder bottom -Reinstalled the rudder on the airplane
I'll work on the vertical stabilizer fairing next - the last one on the tail. Since the rudder will be black, I will paint the fairings on the airplane. I'll paint the elev, HS and VS tips silver like the emp fairing.
