This morning I worked on drilling the landing light lense holes. You start with a small #40 bit then move to #30 and then you remove the lense and open the holes in the lense up to 5/16 and then countersink for the #6 dimple I put into the skin holes. This will accomodate, you guessed it, the #6 screws that will attach said lense to the opening in the skin. I also added nutplates to the lense attachment brackets to recieve the #6 screws. After that I installed the lamp assembly bracket and then unfortunatley I ran out of time. Technically, I'm done, but I want to put everything on so I don't find a mistake after the leading edge is permenately installed on the wing. Although this landing light aftermarket kit is designed to be done on finsihed airplanes, knowing my luck I would have some kind of major setback. Anyway, I get everything in tomorrow and then I'll jump back onto the fuel tanks. The goal is finsihed by OSH! I have 10 days! Should be a piece of cake............uh oh, I shouldn't have said that!
Using the dorky tape "handle" to keep the lense up tight for drilling - this is per the instructions!
Nutplates installed on the lense back brace attachment do-hickys....
Assembly bracket in place. I must be doing something wrong as these are a pain to put in.
