Started on the rudder this afternoon. Didn't work very long, but I did get all the parts located and started cutting the stiffners per the plans. Took me most of the time that I was out there just to figure out what the plans were trying to tell me about how to prepare the stiffners. The plans called for tin snips for cutting, but I tried the bandsaw and that wouldn't work (wrong kind of blade) so I when back to the snips and worked on my technique. It is important not to close the snips completely when cutting as it distorts the metal. I used lots of small cuts and they came out pretty smooth. I still have a couple more stiffners to do, but at least I got started.
