The EAA meeting tonight I got to view a very nice QB RV-10 undercontruction. The horizontal stab bolts when through the longeron just as my -8 plans show, but I still didn't like the edge spacing (I don't want to compromise the top longerons). I confered with my buddy Mike Cencula (engineer and RV-7A builder) and we both agreed that half way across the longeron would be more appropriate. This morning I went for it erring with the drill between the plans and the halfway point and the holes came out fine. I can see now why they have you do this; the F810 bulkhead has an angle on it that get alittle thin on edge spacing if you go too far outboard so it was a compromise and mine turned out fine. I then drilled the remaining 3 bolt holes and put the hardware in temporarily per the plans. Next I drilled the 4 holes in the rear spar from yesterdays session out to #12 and installed the AN3 bolts per the plans. Glad that's done with!
You can see where I started drilling the little tick mark is where the plans say to drill.
Had to use the 90 for all these holes which I hate - very hard to make a staight hole.
