Up early this morning (4:30ish) with plans to make big progress. I did pretty good.
-Deburred and radius the parts that I cut away from F-800 (see previous entry).
-Cleco'd F812A-1 and F-812C-1 together and final drilled #30.
-Used a hand seamer to match the flange on 812A to 812C.
-Layed out and match-drilled the WD-409 tailwheel forward mount to the F-812 bulkheads - this took some time to do correctly, you don't want to screw this up. I won't rehash it here see Jeff Preou's excellent weblog on this: http://www.mykitlog.com/users/display_log.php?user=jpreou&project=45&category=2153&log=35967&row=223 just cut n paste it into your browser.
-Machine countersunk the 2 holes from the previous step.
-Disassembed and deburred the F-812 bulkheads and the tailwheel mount. -Dimpled the F-812s for flush rivets on the aft side. -Scuffed and cleaned the F812s and used a wire wheel to remove the mill scale on the tailwheel assemble (I dissasembed all of the parts - watch out for the sping and shear pin I will fly out and you could lose them).
- Primed the parts from above.
-Radius'd the F-811 stabilizer attach bars -Trimmed the F811s per the plans on the bandsaw - very easy. -Cleco'd the F-811A & 811E and the stab bars. -Final drilled the 811s together. -Started Match drilling the 811s to the stab bars. The bars are pretty thick and you have to use the pilot hole in the sheet metal and I was worried about straightness when I remembered the handly pilot tool that I bought at OSH last year to ensure straight holes - worked great. If you don't have one get one - not expensive. A load of hay showed up (100 bales) so I had to stop for now.
