Brief Description: Aileron pushrods (cockpit to bellcrank)
It was nice to finish the big aileron pushrods that go from the cockpit to the bellcrank out in the wings. I first primed the inside of the aluminum fittings that will be drilled and riveted into each end. I then laid out the location of the 6 rivet holes on each end of each pushrod tube. I used masking tape for this by wrapping a piece around the tube, marking the ends, and divding the dimensions by 6. I took the tape off and used it to make 4 templates and duplicated the dimensions onto those pieces. I put the template on each end so I knew where to drill the holes. It worked perfect. I had to remove some primer on each tube as the fit is very tight and any interferance will keep the ends from going into the tube. I drilled and deburred the holes and then squeezed the blind rivets per the plans. Then I primed the ends per the plans.
Masking tape templates were made to located the rivet holes in the round tubing.
A drill press makes this much easier. The 'v blocks' also made it alittle easier.
Blind riveting the machined ends into the pushrod tube (each end).
