Brief Description: Left wing leading edge install #1
Woke up late this morning so I only did about :30minutes on the plane. I cleco'd the left wing leading edge onto the spar. Everything lined up well and I rechecked all of my critical measurements after it was cleco'd on. I then set one of the rib to spar (internal) rivets with the pop riveter to see how it would go. Tight, but no big deal. I am actually blind riveting the ribs due to clearance issues with bucking rivets in the confines of the leading edge. See Dan Checkoway's site for details (rvproject.com). Vans recommended LP4-3 in this area, most of the load is carried through the skins anyway and the rivets just keep the ribs perpendicular to the spar.
Make sure you cleco the skin first before the ribs (ask me how I know) for alignment.
