Good session today -Removed the fairings -Fabricated the left wing fuel line (uses a flop tube so it goes through the tank attach bracket. -Trimmed the fwd root fairings the 3/16" per the plans -Deburred all of the wing fairings (hole and edges) -Removed the control surfaces (flaps/ailerons) from the wings -Trimmed the bottom skin of the flaps were it overlaps the fuselage bottom skin -Drilled the top of the tanks for nutplates. I'll do the bottoms of the tanks and fuselage with the wings off. -Made a patch for the silly step hole that van puts on the left side of the -8. I know it's for the A guys - urgh! I don't need any extra oil or fumes in the cabin with me. -Slide the wings out of the center section enough to work on the wiring connections. -Wired the nav/strobes/taxi-landing lights/pitot heat/OAT. Left some of the fuselage connections undone as it'll be easier to do with the wings off now that the lengths and connectors are locked in. -Mitchel helped me remove the wings!!!
Next step is nutplates for all those fairing fasterners and/or back to polishing....plenty to do!
Fuel line done (left wing)
Patched hole. A fairing covers this but it's a big air leak - I'll silicon it prior to covering it up.
Wings are back in the cradle - nice to have the room back in the garage!
