Fabricated the brackets that hold up the main gear. Trimmed the rubber pads.
Built up a support structure under the gear channel so i could rest the main gear on it w/o having to hold it up to get the nuts started.
Carefully found the center of the main gear...it was about 1.5MM different than the line that was on there from Zenith...so beware!!
Calculated the distance needed for the cutouts and used the grinder to make them. Not real happy with the outcome and I went too deep so there is some play when placing the gear between the bolts. Should have used a rotary bit and not the grinder. Anyway I have a solution...place a thin 1/2" ID bushing over the front bolt and get a tight fit. More to come on this.
